Whit Bazemore competed in NHRA Funny Car racing, a class built around purpose-made drag-racing chassis covered by lightweight, car-shaped bodies. Nitro-burning supercharged engines, massive rear slicks and aerodynamic bodies allowed these cars to accelerate rapidly over a drag strip.
