Allis-Chalmers produced the WD-45 from 1953 to 1957 as a stronger successor to the WD. The gasoline version used a 226-cubic-inch four-cylinder engine, while diesel-powered models were also offered. Its Power-Director hand clutch allowed operators to adjust travel speed without interrupting PTO-driven work, a valuable feature for baling and other farm tasks. WD-45 tractors handled plowing, planting, cultivating, and haymaking on farms across North America, and the model remains one of the brand's most recognizable classics.
