The McCormick-Deering Little Genius No. 8 plow was designed to help farmers prepare fields for planting by cutting, lifting, and turning soil. Two-bottom configurations allowed a tractor to work two furrows in each pass, improving productivity compared with single-bottom plows. Steel wheels were common on older agricultural implements before rubber tires became widespread, providing a durable solution for field use. These plows were typically pulled behind tractors and helped bury crop residue and loosen soil to create a suitable seedbed. McCormick-Deering equipment became a familiar part of American farming, and the Little Genius plow remains a recognizable example of traditional tillage machinery.
