The compact pull-type design and classic John Deere appearance make it an excellent companion for period tractors, hay wagons and barnyard scenes. A distinctive collectible for enthusiasts of older hay equipment, especially those building an authentic mid-century harvest display.
Before large round balers became common, pull-type square balers transformed loose windrowed hay into compact rectangular bales. A pickup lifted dried forage into the machine, where a reciprocating plunger compressed it and a tying mechanism secured each bale. This approach simplified stacking, transport and barn storage and helped mechanize livestock feed production.
