International Harvester built the Farmall 656 from the mid-1960s into the early 1970s. The model offered a useful balance of size and power for row-crop cultivation, haymaking, planting and livestock-farm chores. Buyers could select gasoline or diesel engines and different transmission arrangements, including the Hydro version. Its three-point hitch and power take-off supported a wide variety of implements. The 656 earned a following because it was large enough for meaningful fieldwork while remaining maneuverable around farmyards and smaller fields.
