Add a distinctive hydrostatic Farmall to your vintage collection with this 1/16 International Harvester Farmall 656 Hydro Tractor, Toy Tractor Times Edition by Ertl. The model combines familiar Farmall 656 styling with the Hydro designation that set these tractors apart from conventional geared machines. Its Toy Tractor Times release gives it a specific collector connection, while the classic red-and-white appearance suits any International Harvester display. A compelling model for enthusiasts who appreciate both special editions and innovative farm tractor transmissions.
International Harvester produced the Farmall 656 during the 1960s and early 1970s. The Hydro version used a hydrostatic transmission that allowed smooth speed changes without conventional gear shifting, particularly useful for jobs requiring frequent changes in ground speed. Farmers used 656 tractors for planting, cultivating, haymaking, and general chores. Hydrostatic drive was an important innovation for agricultural equipment, and surviving Farmall 656 Hydro tractors remain popular among collectors interested in unusual transmission technology.
