Real Life Machine
The International Harvester 966 was produced from 1971 to 1976 as part of IH's popular 66 Series. Built in Rock Island, Illinois, it used a 6.8L six-cylinder diesel engine and was rated at approximately 113 engine horsepower, with 95 horsepower claimed at the PTO. The 966 was designed for demanding row-crop work, tillage, planting, haying, and PTO-driven equipment. Its distinctive styling, strong diesel power, and available Torque Amplifier transmission helped make the 966 a favorite among farmers. IH produced 21,017 examples during its production run.
