The International Harvester 1466 was manufactured from 1971 through 1976 as part of the popular IH 66 Series tractor lineup. Equipped with a turbocharged 436-cubic-inch six-cylinder diesel engine producing approximately 145 PTO horsepower, the 1466 was designed for demanding agricultural operations, including heavy tillage, planting, and fieldwork. Its powerful engine, rugged construction, and dependable drivetrain made it popular with farmers and later provided a strong foundation for competitive tractor pulling. Modified IH 1466 pulling tractors often featured upgraded engines, specialized tires, and reinforced components to compete in demanding pulling events. The Crusin' Mule represents the tradition of transforming agricultural tractors into powerful competition machines.
