The International Harvester 1206 was introduced in 1965 and became one of the company's best-known high-horsepower tractors of the 1960s. It was powered by a turbocharged diesel engine producing approximately 110 PTO horsepower, giving farmers strong performance for demanding fieldwork such as plowing, tillage, and pulling heavy implements. The 1206 helped establish a new level of power in International Harvester's row-crop tractor lineup and became popular for its performance and distinctive styling. Decades later, the 1206 remains a favorite among antique tractor enthusiasts and is often used as the inspiration for customized pulling tractors. Pulling versions are modified for competition, where tractors are tested for their ability to move a weighted sled down a track.
