Allis-Chalmers produced the WD-45 from 1953 to 1957 and offered a diesel version powered by a six-cylinder engine. Diesel fuel efficiency appealed to farmers doing long hours of fieldwork, while the tractor's Power-Director hand clutch supported PTO-powered jobs and flexible ground-speed operation. Narrow-front models were suited to row-crop cultivation and planting work. The WD-45 Diesel remains especially interesting to collectors because it combined familiar Allis-Chalmers styling with a different engine configuration.
