Real Life Machine
The Montgomery Ward Model 101 was produced in the early 1950s as part of Montgomery Ward's entry into the farm tractor market. Built by the Harry A. Lowther Company of Joliet, Illinois, it used a Chrysler industrial six-cylinder engine producing roughly 30 horsepower. The tractor featured a Dodge-based drivetrain and hydraulic brakes, an uncommon feature on tractors of its era. Montgomery Ward tractors were produced for only a short period, making surviving examples relatively uncommon and interesting to vintage machinery collectors.
